This return of Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A has sparked immense excitement within the fandom. Starting with the one-by-one reveal of newcomers ahead of the title's release, to players developing firm opinions on the full roster of Mega Evolutions, there's plenty for fans to look forward to.

With many of the Mega Evolutions showcasing unique designs that emphasize their personalities, one idea came to mind: What's the best way to link this with astrology? This list is based on a mix of intuition, sign stereotypes, and personal experience.

Aries – Mega Camerupt

To be truthful, Houndoom was nearly chosen for Aries, as both are the Mega Pokémon and astrological sign that inspire the most fear. However, a Mega Houndoom comes across as always furious, which doesn't match the Aries vibe, known for being playful, light-hearted, and spontaneous. This makes Aries much more akin to Mega Camerupt, which solely spews lava when angered. Stay on the good side of either and benefit from a powerful partner; should you offend them, be ready to face the consequences.

Taurus – Mega Heracross

Similar to a loyal Bull, the steadfast Heracross species, whether in its regular and Super Form, has aided many trainers in Legends: Z-A. Though trustworthy, both the creature and a Bull are also Fighting types, and – whether it's their trainer or a firm belief – will defend their position unwaveringly. The thing about Mega Heracross that reminds me most of my Bull-sign companions, though, is its unabashed passion for treats. Many past official descriptions mention their craving for sweet sap and how it employs its appendage to hoard it all, which is true Bull-sign vibe.

The Twins – Mega Medicham

Look at this total royalty. It's impossible to convince me this Pokémon is not the soul of every party, offering an endless fountain of chatter to those who wants to hear. Much like an captivating, gregarious Twins, it's incredibly simple to envision Super Medicham captivating an entire Wild Zone with their tales. This Pokémon's Pokédex entry also states its ability to predict an opponent's future actions, which sounds quite similar to a people-smart Twins.

The Crab – Mega Manectric

The Crab is widely regarded as the most sensitive member of the zodiac, a passionate symbol known for frequently becoming absorbed in their feelings. Per the official info, Super Evolution fills the creature with a “huge amount of energy, but it's excessive for this Pokémon to fully control,” which seems a lot like a classic Cancer emotional outburst. This Pokémon is also recognized for its ability to make a storm cloud over its own self – and if there’s a single trait a Crab is going to do, it’s spoil their good time.

Leo – Mega Starmie

Well, did you think I was planning to pick Pyroar for the lion of the stars? Aside from the reality that it would be far too on the nose, Leo is clearly Mega Starmie, the diva whose legs just went viral for being extremely fabulous (or horrifying, based on your taste). Fans were captivated from the violet starfish, and that’s precisely the same energy a Leo brings to the scene. This Pokémon is also rumored to be broadcasting signals from its center out into space, and it’s just like a Lion to be staging a performance, even if for aliens.

Virgo – Mega Victreebel

The ever-prepared and perpetually-anxious Maiden is perfectly encapsulated in Super Victreebel, the Mega with perpetual acid reflux. The zodiac symbol known for being charmingly critical is clearly reflected across this Pokémon’s entire evolutionary chain, from a always shocked expression like a Maiden when you tell them you lack a 401(k), to its inverted face that’s just like the emoji a Virgo posts to the chatroom when everyone says they want to “be spontaneous” instead of making a strategy.

The Scales – Mega Audino

Observe this gentle, sensitive creature, who uses the sensors on its auditory organs to tell how others are feeling by their pulse. Consistently compassionate – occasionally to a fault – and striving to keep the harmony, there are many Libras who would probably benefit from Super Audino's skills. However, to be frank, it would likely just cause them to worry even more about others.

The Scorpion – Super Banette

This Ghost-type is a creature with a unexpectedly tragic backstory: Discarded as a doll, it gained sentient through sheer resentment and swore retribution on its previous caretaker. According to the Pokédex, Super Evolution, “increases its spitefulness.” That seems exactly like several conversations I’ve had with my intense Scorpion acquaintances. A Scorpion loves cosmic justice and comeuppance, making them the ideal match with Mega Banette.

The Archer – Mega Hawlucha

Both Mega Hawlucha and Archers are constantly staging a performance. Being a Archer personally, the amount of occasions I’ve called myself some version of a “silly small entertainer” is countless. The most flamboyant and most attention-seeking Mega Evolution, its description even mentions how it “flexes to display its power.” I would do the very same thing if I had a Mega evolved form, making Mega Hawlucha the most apt Archer counterpart I can imagine.

Capricorn – Mega Absol
