The Latest Relaxed Playlist Sparks Intense Discussions Regarding AI Players, XP Rewards, and Wait Times

Recently, Battlefield Studios introduced a new playlist titled Relaxed Breakthrough. To put it simply, this mode resembles the regular Breakthrough setup but features several notable changes:

  • Every squad has only eight real players, with the rest filled by AI-controlled opponents.
  • Actions done by human gamers award complete experience points, while bot actions offer reduced XP.
  • Just a pair of locations are available: Siege of Cairo and Empire State map.
  • Elements like Player tags, achievements, and stat tracking have been turned off.

So essentially, the playlist delivers on its title: it offers a casual take of Breakthrough. On the surface, you might think there's nothing wrong, as it gives additional choices for gamers seeking different methods to enjoy the game. However, gaming history has shown one thing, it is that not everyone will be happy. In other words, a lot of Battlefield 6 players are upset.

Community Responses: From Fury to Praise

"People want real players. Don't repeat the errors of your rivals," states a response to the mode reveal. "Truly disappointing concept," comments a different user. At the same time, on the Battlefield subreddit, one user notes, "It's unclear where we are going with this title," and another details all the issues they believe to be problematic in the game: "Resolve glitches, fix drone glitch, fix IVF rockets, adjust aiming after sprinting, fix awful hit registration. We don't need this bot mode."

On the other hand, amid the criticism, some gamers sharing how much they're liking the recent addition. "It's very fun to practice, human participants prevent it from being a complete grind but it's very relaxed," reads a forum post. "The community doesn't understand that there are gamers who have lives and don't play this game 24/7. Allow them to find a middle ground," states another. One reply on Twitter explains that as they're "a battledad with busy schedules, this is perfect for me," and another praises the mode for "avoiding intense competition."

Valid Concerns and Player Feedback

Despite the support, there are constructive reasons to criticize Casual Breakthrough. Some users have pointed out that it could increase queue times even longer for different playlists due to the large amount of options currently available. On a similar note, some areas already encounter AI-filled matches in the existing playlists. Additionally, it appears a little backwards that the mode won't start without a minimum number of human gamers, despite it focuses mostly on combat against bots.

Lastly, one of the biggest complaints is that Battlefield Portal was meant to offer complete rewards, including AI matches, but that was removed when they tried to remove XP farming from the mode. So Casual Breakthrough feels like the player base meeting them halfway, as per forum feedback. A different user describes this addition as the devs "making a mistake significantly, I had great enjoyment in the first couple of days, why did they feel the need to adjust it?"

Looking Ahead: Adjustments Occur?

If the development team has proven anything so far with Battlefield 6, it is that they're paying attention and responding to player input. Assignments being too difficult got fixed very quickly, just like the required Redsec challenges. Chances are that, if their data shows this recent mode isn't performing to their expectations, they will not hesitate to make further modifications.
