That Grisly Animated Movie Ending That Stays With Fans

Out of every mature animated films I have personally watched, nothing has stuck with me quite like the fear-filled finale of the graphically gory as well as deeply subversive 2022 movie The Unicorn Wars.

In 2015’s, the Spain-based filmmaker created a grim, melancholy and frequently brutal universe with some tiny , desolate hints of optimism.

Although The Unicorn Wars appears as it stemmed from an impulse to expand animation even more, the director explained that it was rather an effort to convey a universal, cross-cultural message concerning “the mutual source of each battle.”

That idea is communicated by means of a squad of brightly hued teddy bears , openly inspired by a popular line of lovable characters.

Being raised in a community centered on warmongering as well as the military-industrial complex, a lot of these animals are consumed by killing the mythical beasts, thanks to a religious scripture which states the bears they used to be masters of the woodland, before these creatures forced them out.

Others did not entirely bought into the indoctrination, and choose to sample narcotics and fornicate in the forest.

Unlike their cuddly counterparts, these vivid animals display sexual organs and definite urges.

For a particular notably brutal, skeptical animal, Bluey, the war against unicorns becomes a path to power — and particularly to authority over his more tender, more compassionate sibling the bear Tubby.

Bluey acts as a tormentor and an obvious sociopath , and as terror takes over his unit and claims his fellow soldiers one by one, he grabs progressively influence on his own behalf, through ever more violent, harmful methods.

Meanwhile, the unicorns are suffering their own horror, in the form of a growing, harmful creature in their habitat.

“Initially, it appears as a comedy,” the director stated. “Yet it becomes a more intense and melancholic film. And by the end, it transforms into a terrifying movie.”

The Unicorn Wars starts out feeling a bit like among the playful features by a legendary animator, that uncover a wicked pleasure in permitting cartoon characters curse, fire weapons, or have intimate relations.

Afterward it turns into more akin to a darker movie by that same director, with increasingly explicit brutality and a tangible connection to the actual tragedy of war.

By the end, it becomes an outright theatrical horror bloodbath.

The fear that makes this a Halloween-friendly viewing kicks in much sooner than that description suggests.

Unicorn Wars is suited for the devoted gorehounds, for lovers of extreme cinema who wish to watch something they’ve never seen on-screen before, and are able to withstand a narrative which delivers no restraint.

See it in a dimly lit space free from interruptions, and the finale will burrow into your mind and stay with you.
