Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's expected for concerns to be asked about his future after a further heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in twelve games, marking the team's worst streak since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got plenty of backing from above,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to turn it around and earn three points of course but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I accept my situation. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to expand on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “In the normal conversations we have I feel the confidence. However I've not talked to them after this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Response

Slot expressed regret over familiar shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It is not good enough. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a phase such as this with outcomes so bad.”

He concluded, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And as long as it is taken away, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to the top, prove once more the values of this club and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and it must improve.”
