Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player won his maiden championship for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a challenging season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden championship following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court since that period of the previous year.

The win also means he has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one various competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to get a title is particularly special," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, including in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular reactions on court had led commentators to doubt if his ability to play at the top level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to approach the net and compete assertively, backed up by an improved service.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial tour victory, gained dominance to create a third set.

The opponent defended 4 initial break points in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
