Iran Claims Assault on American Facility in Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and continuing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is unclear and the United States has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with notable success and destroyed a number of missiles," it added.
The statement noted wreckage fell on a neighborhood in the capital, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
